Do what you do so well that when other people see what it is that you do, they will want to see you do it again and they will bring others with them to show them what it is that you do.
– Walt Disney
According to one google search I did, approx 25 million people visit DisneyWorld annually.
When we strive for excellence, it’s attractive. Just don’t tramp over core convictions on your way to a polished product.
Been a while since I posted (over a month) but the importance of this propelled me to post again, and maybe even get me back into the rhythm again.
I have at least 3 UT coffee mugs and for the past two weeks I have been drinking my morning coffee exclusively from these mugs. I will continue this through next Saturday when the UT Kiffin era kicks off against Western Kentucky. And who knows, if we win I may just keep it up.
Just read this proverb out of The Message – a paraphrase of the Bible.
“Listening to gossip is like eating cheap candy;
do you really want junk like that in your belly?” Proverbs 18:8
How true is that?! Cheap candy tastes really good while you’re chewing it…for about 10 seconds…then as it settles in your stomach, you’re like, “ugh…why did i just do that!”
It’s a big day for the Teague family. Katie cringed a bit when Annie picked out the Barbie bike, but I didn’t care…I was so excited, maybe even more than Annie! She rode her new bike all the way through Wal Mart, through the checkout line and into the parking lot! My little girl is growing up!
To my beautiful bride…today on your birthday I hope you know how much you are loved! For being such an understanding, encouraging wife; for being such a caring, compassionate mommy; for working so hard and so patiently to care for your family…
I am so blessed – and so proud – to call you my wife, and our precious girls have so much more to learn about their amazing mommy!
I’m sitting in one of my favorite places to work/study out of the office, but when I came in there was a group of women gathered around all the tables, leaving me in the corner by the front window. The sun is blasting through the wall of glass and I feel like an ant frying under a magnifying glass that’s being held by some freckle-faced kid with glasses!
Now here’s the interesting part…this group of women who are occupying all the tables and most of the seating space in the coffee shop are doing a Bible study – I can hear them very clearly. I’m all about Bible study! I’m actually here to study the Bible! However, what about someone who comes in and doesn’t know who Jesus is or that God loves him/her? How would he/she respond?
Encouraged by what he/she overhears this group talking about?
Or frustrated because these Bible poeple are taking up all the seating in the shade?
I’m riding the fence, but at the very least it made me think…
Entering Burke Lake Park on a weekend as a non-resident – $8
One adult and one child for a municipal park putt-putt course – $11
Playing putt-putt for the first time with your 4yr-old daughter – Priceless
I apologize for the cliche mastercard bit, but $19 for a few holes of mini golf with my little girl was so worth it! This week I experienced something as a dad: you can’t put a price on spending time with your family.
Annie barely made it through 9 holes on the 18 hole course! We jumped over some rocks from 12 to 18 so we could watch our golf balls disappear on the last hole! Though she is only 4, part of me thinks Annie played just for me.
